Oakwood's "That Day In May"

Oakwood, Ohio’s “That Day in May” community festival celebrates its 51st year on Saturday, May 16, 2026 (always the third Saturday in May). This year’s event aligns with the America 250 Celebration, joining communities across the country in recognizing 250 years of shared history, civic spirit, and the enduring promise of community. The festival continues a long-standing Oakwood tradition of service, engagement, and charitable impact.

Organized by the Rotary Club of Oakwood and supported by more than 100 dedicated members and volunteers, That Day in May brings the community together through a full day of activities, including the Family Fun Run, 5K and 10K races, Community Pancake Breakfast, Parade, Car Show, "America 250" themed Dog Show, food trucks, charity raffles, and more. These events highlight local pride and reflect the values of service, perseverance, and neighborliness.

Since 1988, That Day in May has generated more than $900,000 in support of local nonprofits, schools, and community initiatives across the Dayton and Miami Valley region, continuing a strong tradition of civic generosity.

In the spirit of America 250, this year’s celebration also highlights traditions that connect generations. The High School Alumni Baseball Game returns as a nod to a classic American pastime. The festivities conclude with the sixth annual Golf Outing at Dayton Country Club on Monday, May 18, featuring 18 holes followed by a reception and raffle. Together, the weekend events honor both Oakwood’s heritage and this national milestone.

Come Join Us!  For the third Saturday in May ... again, or for the first time!
